That’s Sick, Bro

I’ve been sick for the past 3 or 4 days, so naturally my music collection has grown substantially, as have my tastes (only the musical ones, though — my actual taste buds are off their game). I can’t gather thoughts enough to write comprehensive reviews of anything, as much as I would like to do so. But I can give you tidbits:

TV shows I’ve watched:
Season 4 of Community (great show)
Season 4 of Cougar Town (mediocre show, but they drink a lot of wine)

Movies I’ve watched:
Sound City (directed by Dave Grohl. Great movie.)
Pearl Jam Twenty
I Need That Record (terrible. Don’t watch it unless you are confused by the statement, “the record industry is fucked up.”)

Podcasts I’ve listened to:
“Wait, Wait: Don’t Tell Me” 7/20/13

Albums I’ve acquired (all digital):
Pearl Jam: Lost Dogs
Sunny Day Real Estate: How It Feels to Be Something On
Sunny Day Real Estate: Diary
Pearl Jam: Ten

Albums I’ve listened to:
Pearl Jam: Riot Act
R.E.M.: Reveal
Sunny Day Real Estate: How It Feels to Be Something On

Favorite track right now:

“I Am Mine” sounds so much like R.E.M. to me. Love it.

“Jo, why the hell do you suddenly like Pearl Jam?!”
Look, I don’t know. Sometimes you just need to explore some different stuff. There are a few reasons I’ve been looking into grunge lately. One is that I now call the Pacific Northwest my home, and I have an interest in getting to know the history of the music here. It seems like few places have a marked geographic effect on a genre of music, and that’s interesting to me. Delta Blues is another one of those genres I can think of off the top of my head.

Unfortunately, I’m too tired to list other reasons.

I’ll leave you with this, the reason I love the newest version of iTunes. Does this not scream “summer” to you?!
